WHAT IS WATER-CASTING?

Handmade on the Gower Peninsula, Wales. Water Casting is a process where metal is melted to its liquid state and then poured into a container of cold or iced water. The quick change in temperature freezes the metal and creates truly unique organic forms.

I like to recycle my eco-silver scrap from previous projects for this. Each piece is individual and cannot be recreated. I then take the individual forms, match them together to create one of a kind pendants, rings, earrings and pins.

WHAT IS KEUM-BOO?

Keum-boo is an ancient Korean method of applying thin gold sheets to silver, producing beautiful silver-gilt pieces. The process starts with refining sterling silver to expose a fine layer underneath. After this, gold sheets are applied using heat and pressure, ensuring a strong bond with the silver. Keum-boo creates striking contrasts in colour and texture, resulting in stunning designs that are cherished for their beauty and artistry. This method of embellishment is revered for its historical significance and craftsmanship, making it a valued choice for those seeking unique and elegant jewellery that reflects a rich cultural heritage.
